Lyme Regis Trip
Friday 2 July
What a wonderful week we all had from 21st to 25th June! We descended upon the World Heritage Site of Lyme Regis armed with cameras, hats, snacks and some pocket money. The week’s activities included fossil hunting at Monmouth Beach, learning about the different types of sea defences and measuring the profiles of two beach sites in 5 teams. The weather was near perfect yet sunburn was minor. Injuries were gladly few. We spent a morning in the town making a survey of the types of shops on the High Street, visiting the aquarium and watching the grey mullet being fed. We asked visitors some questions about why they visit Lyme and about their views on the prospect of an offshore wind farm. The evenings were spent on a hike, testing out our different designs for the Egg Drop, singing around the camp fire and dancing the night away at the disco! On the last morning we went on another hike through woods and over streams before clambering on the coach to come back. We returned exhausted but happy after a fabulous week away. Behaviour was very good and there were some lovely comments from shopkeepers and passers-by. Well done all the boys and staff.
