. . when delivering or collecting boys is always a problem! The main causes are twofold: (a) selfishness; (b) lack of common sense, e.g. parking in the turning circle. Traffic congestion and selfish parking are by far the most common causes of all the complaints we receive from the public.
Cars are allowed to drive in only during arrival. The gates are open between 7.45 and 8.15am every day. There is no parking in the grounds outside these hours at any time.
If parents arrive early, we request that they do not sit in our driveway blocking the traffic for everyone else. There is a fairly obvious one-way system and it is vital that parents adhere to this. Also, if traffic is backed up trying to get into our gate, don’t just join the queue – please park and walk. A single car insisting on trying to turn into the grounds when there is clearly no room to do so can snarl up the traffic all the way back to the lights at Nightingale Lane or, in the other direction, to Broomwood Road.
The whole question of traffic is of the utmost sensitivity and concern to our neighbours. Some suggestions:
- try walking or bicycling to school (great for the figure, many already do)
- park around the corner and walk (you can make a quicker getaway too)
- organise school runs with others who live near you
- never double park or park across someone’s driveway (not even for half a minute)
- do not park on Bolingbroke Grove ever, at any time
