We have numerous prizes and awards throughout the year which recognise both achievement and effort. There are too many to go into full detail here, but the main ones are as follows:
- Certificates are awarded throughout the year for significant achievements in any field (work,
karate,
music, etc). Such awards are made during
Assembly in front of the whole school
- Attainment and Improvement Prizes (one per
Form) are awarded every term at the final Assembly, to the boys who in the opinion of the staff have achieved the most or shown the greatest improvement
- the Effort Cup is awarded each term at the discretion of the staff to the boy who has made the greatest effort
- the Manners Cup is awarded termly to a boy for politeness and good manners
-
Merits are awarded throughout the term for academic excellence
-
Colours are awarded for excellence in games. They may also be awarded for music,
drama or
choir
- the
House
Cup is awarded every term to the winning House
- two Victor Ludorum cups are awarded to the two boys, senior and junior, gaining most points at our annual Sports Day
- Cups are awarded termly in many fields, both individually and on a house basis – chess, drama, music, sporting events, etc
In addition at the annual prizegiving (held at the end of Trinity term) there are numerous prizes and cups awarded to each year group for overall effort or achievement, and for excellence in academic subjects, sports, art, drama and music.
Cups may be taken home for the holidays, but must be returned the following term. It is the responsibility of parents to have the cup engraved.
Prizes are normally books or book tokens with a value of from £5-15.
