Lunch, consisting of two courses with vegetables or salad, is provided every day. Milk and biscuits are provided mid-morning (see Breaktime), and tea (sandwich, biscuit or cake, drink) is provided for all boys at 4.00pm.

All our catering is prepared in-house under the supervision of our chef. We provide menus which are varied and interesting, based on fresh produce and good nutritional principles. We aim to ensure that food is familiar and generally encompasses “plain home cooking”. We do not provide a choice at lunch other than for vegetarians; we can however make special arrangements in the event of dietary problems or allergies, but these are necessarily limited. For further information, please ask the office for a copy of our food policy.

Please notify any such problems directly to Matron (not the chef), in writing. Boys sit at tables with members of staff at lunch. It is a formal meal and an important social occasion; we expect the boys to eat correctly, to display good table manners, to finish what is on their plates and to make conversation.
