Matron mans the phone in the Headmaster’s Secretary’s office between 7.45 and 8.15 each morning. If a boy is ill and not coming to school, please telephone her by 8.15 to let us know. A letter of explanation should be sent to the form teacher (not the office) with the boy on his return to school (see Attendance). If a boy is going to be away for an extended period, we can arrange to send work home.
At school, the boys’ health is under the care of Matron, whose office is in the Health Centre. The Health Centre is capable of dealing with most minor and/or routine ailments and injuries, and if a boy is unwell he will be taken there to rest. For more serious incidents, see Accidents and Emergencies.
The school should be notified immediately if a boy comes into contact with an infectious illness, in which case he may not return to school without a doctor’s certificate. Immediate notification is required from parents if any case of infectious illness occurs in their own house or if, to their knowledge, their son has been exposed to infection elsewhere.
