The form teachers are all highly qualified and experienced. In Shell and Form 2 they are the primary contact between school and parents and are completely responsible for the academic, social, emotional and physical development of the boys in their care. They are available to see parents by appointment (see Appointments) and hold individual formal meetings with parents twice a year to discuss the boys’ progress (see Parent-Teacher Interviews).
In Forms 3, Remove and 5 all boys have tutors, who become the primary contact with parents and who are responsible for the academic and pastoral care of their tutees. The role of the form teacher at these levels, although still important, is more a daily housekeeping one. It is he or she, for example, who greets the boys every day in their form room and takes the register, inspects the diaries and passes on any relevant information to the tutors, and usually takes prep.
