In addition to our Matron, a fully qualified nurse, all academic staff receive training in first-aid, renewed every three years, resulting in their being recognised as "Appointed Persons" under current health & safety legislation. In addition, in each building there is at least one fully qualified "First-Aider" – a staff member who has completed a four day course, which is regularly updated. All courses, whether for Appointed Persons or First Aiders, are provided by recognised organisations (St Johns Ambulance, Red Cross or similar).
First-Aiders are available to advise on appropriate procedures when accidents or illness occur at school. They are also responsible for the upkeep of the first-aid boxes and portable first-aid bags taken on excursions or to games, etc.
