Each form normally goes on at least one excursion each term; these excursions are planned in conjunction with the curriculum to supplement and extend form work and excite the boys’ interest. Naturally the boys love going on them, but they are chosen primarily for their educational value and are not intended as treats.
They include visits to museums, galleries, theatres, historic sites, farms, businesses and factories – see also Field Trips, Post-Common Entrance.
The cost of excursions is included in the overall fees. Excursions are listed in the term dates booklet and Diary; fuller details of all excursions are given in the weekly Newsletters.
At the start of each academic year all parents are asked to sign and return a slip giving permission for their boy(s) to go on day excursions throughout the year. Boys for whom a slip has not been received are not permitted to go on excursions.
We often need assistance with excursions and welcome help from volunteer parents. See Help.
