All staff are on the lookout for these problems, which are dealt with thoroughly and sensitively. The school has its own Learning Support specialist and if any problem is suspected the form teacher will recommend to parents that an assessment is made by her. Parents who are concerned may speak directly to the Deputy Headmaster or Director of Studies to arrange an assessment.
The assessment, which consists of standardised tests, is carried out at school and takes an afternoon. Parents then meet our specialist and are given a complete report detailing performance, with strengths and weaknesses explained. A programme of individual lessons can be set up. Our specialist works closely with the other teachers. There is a charge for individual lessons which is added to end of term accounts.
In the case of more serious learning disabilities it may be necessary for a boy to undergo diagnostic testing by an outside expert. The school can make recommendations in such cases.
