As an independent school we are not obliged to follow the National Curriculum. However, insofar as the syllabus of the ISEB (Independent Schools Examination Board, which sets Common Entrance exams to public schools) reflects its requirements, we do pay close attention to it.

The School’s curriculum documents set out the work to be covered subject by subject, form by form, and teachers are required to adhere strictly to them. Individual subject documents are available for those who are interested. The curriculum documents are reviewed annually by heads of department and are co-ordinated by the Director of Studies who is responsible for them.

As an independent school we are under no obligation to pay any attention to fashionable theories and vogue prescriptions. Our teaching methods are based on traditional methods combined with a willingness to experiment and incorporate new ideas. Our objective is to stretch and stimulate the boys, inspiring curiosity and enabling all of them to find something at school that they find enjoyable, fulfilling and rewarding.
