We have very few problems over discipline; firm guidance and strict attention to the rules of common sense, politeness and considerate behaviour see to that. Inevitably though, boys sometimes have to be pulled up short, so here in order of severity are the disciplinary methods we use:
Minus House Points
See
House Points. For three minus house points boys are automatically given a
Detention
Boys can lose their free time or may be required to stay on after school if their work or behaviour is unsatisfactory. Detention is supervised by teachers; boys may be given work or some necessary chore. A letter giving details is sent home at least 24 hours before the detention is due to take place. Three detentions leads to a Talk with
Headmaster or
Deputy Headmaster, which may lead to a Saturday morning detention or to
Loss of Privileges

Withdrawal of badges
Boys in a
position of responsibility (form captain, vice-captain, house captain, prefect, etc) may have their badge of office temporarily or permanently withdrawn.
Suspension
May be for a period from half a day to longer, depending on the nature of the offence. This is only used in exceptional circumstances. Where it is appropriate – i.e. for all but the most minor offences – we expect boys to write a letter of apology. Please note also that parents are billed for any damage caused by their son.
