ICT forms an important and exciting part of the curriculum.
Computers are integrated into teaching at all levels, and the boys are taught computer skills in conjunction with their classroom work right from the start. Word processing, spreadsheet and powerpoint skills are taught along with fundamental typing skills. Each boy has a password-protected folder on the network where he can save as many files as he wishes; these files can also be accessed from home. Boys are taught how to present a piece of work, inserting charts and drawings, and these skills come into their own in the production of e.g. their geography field work project in Form 5.
All boys have their own e-mail address, and Internet access is available under controlled conditions, involving the use of a constantly updated filtering service against unsuitable material.
Our ICT infrastructure and equipment is continually updated. Every classroom has a PC and whiteboard and there is a fully equipped computer room with 21 PCs, scanners and a colour laser printer. All equipment is networked throughout the school.
The use of computing in schools is undergoing continuous change and development, and as it does so our provision of it and the way we use it is constantly under review.
