One of our most important tasks is to ensure that every boy who leaves us goes to a school that is right for him. Schools vary widely their entry requirements as do boys in their abilities and aptitudes, and matching the two is an art at which Northcote Lodge has always excelled.

From a boy’s second year, the Headmaster spends time with parents to find out what they are looking for and to offer them realistic advice on what their son may be capable of achieving. By the end of the fourth year, most boys should know which school they are aiming for – essential for their peace of mind, and allowing them to concentrate on the task in hand.

The Headmaster maintains contacts with many schools and visits them regularly. Once or twice a year visiting public school heads or senior representatives come and talk to parents, usually in the early evening over a glass of wine, with plenty of opportunity to meet and chat afterwards.

If parents are interested in a school of which we have no recent direct experience, we will happily undertake to visit it on their behalf.
