Charity & Fundraising by the PA
Fundraising
From the foundation of the school the children, staff and parents at Northcote Lodge have raised money for charity.
The school chooses one charity to support each year. We try to choose:
* small charities
* preferably local
* with which the boys can have direct contact wherever possible.
Fund-raising activities organised by the Parents Association are spread throughout the year which involve parents, staff and children. We also contribute to
St Michael’s Church via the collection at our weekly church service.
In 2010-11 we supported 'Facing the World' and the efforts of Bertie Portal and James Cash to raise funds for their row across the atlantic - http://facingtheatlantic.com. We were able to present a cheque for £15,000 at our Sports Day.
In 2009
-2010 the PA (under the very able Chairmanship of Jessica MacKichan and Melissa Johnston) raised £15,000 for The Childrens Trust. We were thrilled to present a cheque to them at our Sports Day on 6 July 2010.
All schools receive constant unsolicited requests for support
from all kinds of charities, so our policy is not to support any other charities apart from our officially chosen ones. Whilst we will always consider especially meritorious one-off requests, we prefer on the whole not to be asked. Parents who are involved with a particular charity which they feel would be worthy of our support should have a word with the Headmaster, John Hansford.
