Northcote Lodge is a predominantly Christian school. Religious Studies is therefore a subject which is important in order that the boys can learn about their own religion, and the religion of those with other faiths and beliefs. Here at Northcote we aim to develop the boys' ability to consider the feelings, thoughts and beliefs of others as well as their own. We study Biblical texts, looking at the major events of the life and teaching of Jesus and his resurrection. Furthermore, we study the lives of modern day heroes and heroines, suchas Martin Luther King and Mother Theresa. Finally we complete a comparative study of the beliefs of other key world religions such as Buddhism, Islam and Judaism. We aim to develop an intellectual curiosity and critical interest on which boys can build and reflect upon in future years.
